Resume:
The word ‘Resume’ has been derived from a
French word meaning ‘summary’. In this way, the word ‘Resume’ means ‘summary of one’s qualifications, experience and other skills’.
The Features of Resume are:
· A resume is formal, objective and written in third person.
· It starts with brief summary of
qualifications, strengths and professional experience.
· The information is given in bullet
form.
· It focuses more on skills than other
talent of the person.
· It is given in ‘reverse chronological
order’.
· It focuses on the most recent
experiences.
· It is mostly used for the application
of senior position.
Parts/Elements of Resume:
Contact Information : Name, Address and telephone
of the applicant.
Objectives/Profile : It includes area of
interest, describes the potentials and traits of personality. It also describes
short term and long term objectives of the candidate.
Summary : It is the list of the
skills and qualifications of the candidate. Bullets are used in this section.
Work Experience : It includes experiences of
the candidate. Description of the earlier jobs and positions held are mentioned
here.
Other Elements : This part includes social
service, achievements, awards, etc. of the candidate.
Reference : The references of at least
two well-known persons who know the candidate are given in this section.
Signature : Finally, at the end
of resume the candidate has to put his signature.
