News Report/Report of Events/Report of 

 

Incidents

 

    Everyday we read newspapers. The piece of news in
the newspaper is a best example of reporting the events that have recently
happened. So, news is a kind of reporting of events and
experiences.  A news is a report or the correspondence made to different
newspapers. It consists of information about different events and incidents.

 

Parts of
a News Report:

 

Headline/Heading:

    Every news has a heading. It summerises the news in one sentence.
There are various principles/techniques of Headline/Heading. They are – a)
Headline should be catchy. b) It should be brief. c) It should be bold. d) It
should be relevant. e) It should be in simple present tense.

 

Examples:       
    

                        4 Killed in Car Accident

 

                        The
Petrol Price Hiked by Rs. 1.30

 

                        CM
VISITS JALGAON

 

Source
of Information:
 

    Source of Information is the name of agency or person which/who
provides the information to the news paper. Its techniques/principles are:

 

a)   It
exactly comes below the headline. 

 

b) It
is generally put in brackets. 

 

c)
Its letters are smaller than the letters of headline.

 

Examples: 

 

  (PTI), 

(From
Our Local Correspondence), 

(From
Our Special Correspondence), 

(From
Our Local Correspondence), 

(From
Prof. Mahesh Patil)

 

Place
(of Event/Incident):
 

    Place of event/incident refers to the place where the actual
event/incident takes place. It is usually a name of town, city or village.
Examples: Jalgaon, Amalner, Mumbai, etc.

 

Date/Dateline: 

 
    Date here refers to the date on which the event/incident takes
place. It is always different from the date of publication of newspaper. It
includes day and month only. It does not include year.

 

Examples: 

 
              25thSpet., 

 
                3rd Oct., 

 
              1st Jan., etc.

 

 Introduction: 

 
  Introduction of news is just a brief summary of the whole news. It is in
one paragraph. It is in simple past tense. It highlights the major facts
only.Most preferably passive voice is used in the introduction and main body of
the news.

 

Main
Body:
 

    Main Body contains every detail of the news. It is in many paragraphs.
It is in simple past tense and passive voice.
